“What’s in it for Me”

As we all know it seems harder and harder these days to get in front of many companies to make that pitch, continue what seemed like a promising conversation, follow up on a proposal or a quote they requested in the first place!! (Let’s not include unsolicited communications in this discussion)

No answer here folks, because there could be so many reasons, but a simple “Sorry not interested right now” or " Not proceeding, but thanks for your response" would be appreciated so you can move on.

Some responses, although giving some closure, often leave the situation up in the air.

We may think it’s obvious, but often the person or company you await a response from has not had the “What’s in for Me” question answered.

The benefits of the product/services/solution may be very clear. The features and the advantages of any proposal can be understood and real but… if the person receiving the communication/offer does not get an answer to the their question, “What’s in it for Me”, then they often don’t proceed.

When that happens the communication process stops without response or explanation and unfortunately this has become normal practice and that is bad for business, theirs and yours!

Is social media speak to blame? Are people just so busy they can’t respond and close out conversations?

Whatever it is, working relationships don’t develop, good solutions are being missed, innovation is restricted and business opportunities are completely unborn.

We should all consider before we fail to reply.
